The Eddy is ready to spend $41 million to turn its Cohoes campus into a neighborhood of ranch-style homes.

The nonprofit entity, the senior care division of Troy-based Northeast Health, has applied to the state Health Department for permission to replace its Eddy-Ford Nursing Home and the nursing home section of the Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center with a new form of long-term care. The "Green House" model replaces institutional life with residences that look and feel like private homes and stress dignity and autonomy.
