COHOES — Sixteen ranch-style houses on the Eddy Cohoes Campus are slated to open in October as the region’s first Green House community — an innovative concept pioneered in Mississippi that de-institutionalizes the current model of elder care.

Groundbreaking for the project took place Tuesday morning at 421 Columbia Street.

The Eddy’s Green House model is one of about 16 operating nationwide and the first to be announced in this state, said Jo-Ann Costantino, chief executive officer of the Eddy, an affiliate of Northeast Health.
